Difference Between A Coverlet And Quilt
Quilted quilt and bed cover look similar, which one should I buy? If you choose the wrong one, either the winter is not warm enough, or the bedroom looks messy.
The core difference between the two lies in three points: thickness, weight and how you plan to use it.

Structure And Material
This is a “how many layers of cloth” problem.
Quilt: You can think of it as a “sandwich”. There is a thick layer of cotton or fiber filler in the middle, which is clamped by the upper and lower layers of fabric and sewn together with various stitches. This structure determines that it must have more weight.
Coverlet: It is usually a layer of fabric without an intermediate filling layer. In order to make it look less thin, the high-end bed cover will use the special weaving process of matelass or piqué to make the surface look concave and convex. It is more like exquisite “coat”.
Weight And Seasonal Suitability
Which one to choose depends mainly on the weather there and your sensitivity to temperature.
Quilting is preferred on cold days: because of the middle filling layer, it has excellent warmth retention. If you, like me, like to feel a little heavy when sleeping and feel more secure when pressing the quilt, the first choice in winter is definitely quilting quilt.
Breathable sharp tool bed cover: in summer, or in the south room where the heating is fully turned on, the advantage of the bed cover comes out. It is light and breathable, and will not make you sleep out of a sweat. When changing seasons, I often suggest customers to lay it on the duvet and use it in layers, which not only increases the sense of hierarchy, but also is flexible.
Aesthetic And Bed-Making Style
From a design point of view, the two create a completely different atmosphere.
Quilt: quilted quilt comes a kind of “home” warmth, which is now popular style. Its stitching pattern can add a lot of details to the bedroom, which is visually very full.
Coverlet: If you’re after that modern, refreshing hotel texture, a bed cover is definitely more appropriate. The bed cover usually hangs only to the edge of the mattress, just over the bed frame, and does not drag to the ground. This clean sense of lines is the most important thing for people who pursue minimalness.

Size And Care
This is very practical, but often overlooked.
Quilting is made to keep warm and is usually made wider; the bed cover is designed to be more compact. If you have a small washing machine at home, the bed cover will be much easier to wash. Moreover, it folds up and occupies a small area, so the storage pressure is not so great.
How To Choose?
It’s not that complicated, depending on your core requirements:
To be warm, heavy, and traditional: choose a quilt.
To be light, breathable, modern and minimalist: choose a bed cover.
Good bedding is the bottom line of sleep quality. Whether you need a warm quilted quilt that can wrap you tightly, or a modern bed cover with exquisite craftsmanship and capable style, figuring out their structural differences is the first step in arranging an ideal bedroom. Many people will buy one set each and rotate according to the seasons. This is the smartest way to do it.
